If they are looking at speaker sensitivity, what would you suggest as a good starting point? It really depends on how loud you want it. It will drive 4 ohms to nearly 60 watts at less than 1% distortion. Being a Class A design with low feedback, the distortion always declines with power, so the greatest precision is at a few watts. My reference system has Tannoys with a 95 dB sensitivity and I listen at fairly low levels, typically with 100 dB peaks. The F6 has about 15 times this amount of power, so it can either deliver this level with 83 dB speakers or it can drive the Tannoys to 113 dB peaks. For those of you who didn't know these two bands, i north can invite you to have a look. They have a certain character which is unique. I have an XA 30. I get excellant results although I have to turn the gain down -6db on my Krell KAV-500, that support the center and surround channels, so the glad won't over power the Aleph J. Driver features a dynamic linear suspension designed synergistically with its vented acoustic chamber. The only PL component I have that I'm not raving about is the XP-25 phono-pre. Hello, may i ask which preamp you've been using with F2J. The SIT caballeros are the best solid state amps I've ever heard, easily beating several five figure SS amps including Pass XA. However, I like so much of the other things about the M2 that this is insignificant to me at this time.
